JKSSC felicitates gold medalist Akash Batra.
Akash Batra, International Netball Player, Member of Indian Netball Team who got gold medal in Final beating arch rival Pakistan in 2nd Asian Netball Championship at Malaysia was given arousing welcome and felicitated on arrival by J and K State Sports Council.
Waheed-Ur-Rehamn Para, Secretary State Sports Council congratulated and praised the efforts of Akash and promised to extend support and co-operation for him and in the field of netball.
Ranjeet Kalra Vice Chairman J&K State Sports Council was also present in the welcome ceremony who addressed the students and members by praising the hard working and achievements of Akash and further assured that all support and backup will be provided by the J&K State Sports Council.
J&K wins 3rd place in 25th Senior National Wushu Championship.
J&K State Senior Wushu team arrived Jammu with historic win in the 25th Senior National Wushu Championship held at Ranchi, recently.
1100 players from 42 affiliate units including SSCB, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, Assam Rifles, SSB and All India Police Control Board of Wushu Association of India participated in the championship.
SSCB secured first place, while Manipur emerged second in the Sanshou event and the J&K team lifted the third place after a gap of 15 years.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh (60 Kg) and Rajinder Singh(90 kg) World and Asian Medalists respectively bagged Gold in the Championship, while Arun Singh Charak, International Player also claimed Gold. Abhishek Jamwal clinched Silver and lost to Silver medalist in the World Championship in 52 kg. Pankaj Singh Gold medalist in the Federation Cup won Bronze Medal in the Championship in 75 kg while Shabir and Rohit secured Bronze medals in the Championship.
The team was imparted coaching by Kuldeep Handoo (Chief Coach of India) and Ajay Paul Gill.
As per the coach of the team Kuldeep Handoo, the performance of the team was extraordinary as 5 players lost quarter final bouts. He said that 5 players have reserved their berth for the upcoming National Wushu coaching camp for the preparation of the Indian Wushu team for the 14th World Wushu Championship to be held at Russia and 18th Asian Games at Indonesia.
He requested Secretary Sports Council for the facilities in shape of Equipments and Hall for this medal winning sports and also requested him to issue orders for organizing coaching camp at District Srinagar for the Kashmir province players in 2 phases where 4 districts could be given coaching in order to make the Kashmir province players ready for the forthcoming selection trials for the International Championships.
Earlier, the office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K namely Vijay Saraf (President); Ranjeet Kalra (Vice President) and Vice Chairman of District Sports Council, Jammu and Deepak Handa (Vice President) congratulated Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para, Secretary Sports Council for his support in helping the players to flourish at the National scene. The officebearers also thanked the Secretary for conferring State Award to Surya Bhanu Partap Singh for his outstanding performance in the International events.
Mr Para lauded the efforts of the players and their coach for this brilliant achievement.
Jammu and Kashmir government announces Rs 5 lakh cash award for shooter Chain Singh.
The cash award for the shooter has been sanctioned on the recommendation of J&K Sports Minister, Imran Reza Ansari.

Recognising the talent of shooter Chain Singh who made the state proud by winning six gold medals at 2016 South Asian Games besides clinching a medal in 2014 Asian Games, the state government has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh cash award for the sportsperson.
“Chain Singh, a native of Jammu & Kashmir who is serving in the Indian Army, shall be presented this prestigious award by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the President of the State Sports Council,†informed Waheed ur Rehman Para, Secretary State Sports Council.
Jammu and Kashmir government to provide Rs 50 lakh to set up football clubs in village.
The Jammu and Kashmir government have announced Rs 50 lakhs to set up football camps in villages.
The Minister for Youth Services and Sports Imran Ansari made the announcement at the Standing Committee meeting of State Sports Council in Srinagar.
Keeping two days in a week reserved for training of girls, he asked officers to provide advance training in various sports.
